Tonight's Storyline

Over the last couple of weeks Oilers fans have had a chance to see first hand how Connor McDavid stacks up against some of the NHL's other top rookies. The team visited Buffalo and Jack Eichel, followed by a trip to Philadelphia to take on Shayne Gostisbehere; in both cases I would say that McDavid played the better game, I'm also maybe just a little bit biased. Tonight there is another rookie in opposition's lineup, as Max Domi and the Coyotes take on the Oilers.

Domi, who was selected by the Coyotes with the 12th selection in the 2013 draft. After two more seasons in the OHL with the London Knights, Domi made the jump to the NHL this season, and is currently third in rookie scoring with 17 goals and 27 assists for 44 points in 67 games; nine points more than McDavid, although McDavid is averaging 0.40 more points per game than Domi. Unlike McDavid who missed several months with a broken clavicle, Domi has played in every Coyotes game except for one this season, he missed that game due to a one game suspension for instigating a fight in the final five minutes of the previous game.

In three previous games against the Edmonton Domi has put his name on the scoresheet each time, scoring four goals and added two assists in those three games. The last time these two teams met the Coyotes won 4-3 in overtime, and Domi led the way, scoring three goals, including two in the third to erase a two goal Oilers lead, to record his first career hat-trick.
