Pandas Profiles 2016-2017 Part 2

A continuing look at the University of Alberta Pandas hockey team

The Pandas hockey team is one with the most storied history in western conference. Of a possible 19 Canada West Conference titles, the Pandas have claimed 12. They have 7 National titles which is the most of any single school. Each year, the women’s game at the various universities across Canada grows more competitive and shows greater depth of talent.

This year, and this year’s Pandas, are no different. Some of the Pandas were introduced in Pandas Profiles 2016-2017 Part 1, but here are some more talented players. All answers come from the Pandas themselves.

Hannah Fouillard

Name: Hannah Fouillard

Position: Forward

Height: 5'11"

Eligibility: 1st Year

What is your favourite food? Grilled Cheese

What is your favourite movie? A Walk to Remember

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you need? Sweet Chili Heat Doritos, root beer and matches.

When did you start playing hockey? 4

What is your favourite thing about hockey? Having the team as a second family and having them love the sport just as much as you do.

Jessie Olfert

Name: Jessie Olfert

Position: Defense

Height: 5'2"

Eligibility: 3rd Year

Which shootout move is your favourite? My favourite shootout move is faking a shot then pushing the puck forward and trying to shoot for the low blocker side.

What is your favourite food? I love all food, if I had to pick a favourite it would be cereal, just a massive blow of honey nut Cherrios and cold milk always hits the spot.

What is your favourite movie? My current favourite movie would be Inside Out. I love all movies but Disney movies will always be my favourite.

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you need? If I was stranded on an island I would want a knife, food (some cereal) and water.

When did you start playing hockey? I started playing hockey when I was 7.

What is your favourite thing about hockey? My favourite thing about hockey would be all the amazing people that I have gotten to meet through the sport. The friendships that I have with some of my teammates will last a life time and I am so grateful for that.

What is your favourite thing about hockey? The opportunity it provides me to build character.

Regan Wright

Name: Regan Wright

Position: Forward

Height: 5'8"

Eligibility: 2nd Year

Which shootout move is your favourite? I like a double fake because usually the goalies follow the first one and when the second one works it looks really great.

What is your favourite food? My favourite food is mac and cheese.

What is your favourite movie? My favourite movie is Captain Fantastic.

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you need? I would need at least one book, a water purifier, and matches.

When did you start playing hockey? I started playing hockey when I was 5 years old.

What is your favourite thing about hockey? My favourite thing about hockey is how fast the play is. When everything is happening at full speed the sport is more exciting than any other in existence. I love the feeling of skating at top speed and the control you feel on the ice.

Lisa Lloyd

Name: Lisa Lloyd

Which shootout move is your favourite? My favourite shootout move is when the player dekes out the goalie and then slides the puck through the five hole.

What is your favourite food? It is kind of weird but my favourite food is probably steamed carrots.

What is your favourite movie? Pitch Perfect

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you need? I would bring food, music, and a pool air mattress to enjoy my time while I'm there.

When did you start playing hockey? I started playing hockey when I was in grade 3.

What is your favourite thing about hockey? I love the feeling and speed of skating when you find a way to go faster.

Alison Barnett

Which shootout move is your favourite? Come in wide, fake the shot short side, push over to the far side and tuck it in

What is your favourite food? Food in general is good but I'd have to go with garlic bread

What is your favourite movie? Either Pitch Perfect or The Imitation Game

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you need? A functioning motor boat (with keys), a GPS and some fuel

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you need? 10 years old (2nd year atom)

What is your favourite thing about hockey? There's way too many to choose one but I love the sound of my skates crunching the ice and the sound of the puck on my stick, I love pushing myself to be better everyday and I love the life lessons I've learned, the experiences it's given me and all the people I've met.

Chelsea Dearsley

When did you start playing hockey? At the age of 4.

What is your favourite thing about hockey? Being on a team.

Sasha Lutz

Name: Sash Lutz

Which shootout move is your favourite? Fake shot, fake back hand then slide it five hole.

What is your favourite food? Tacos

What is your favourite movie? Moneyball

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you need? My dog Tulo, tanning oil, sunglasses

When did you start playing hockey? 7 years old

What is your favourite thing about hockey? The friendships I've made through hockey.

Kirsten Chamberlin

Name: Kirsten Chamberlin

Position: Goalie

Height: 5'5"

Eligibility: 1st Year

Which shootout move is your favourite? My favourite shootout move is anytime the player fumbles the puck, because by default that's a lot easier to stop.

What is your favourite food? My favourite food is popcorn.

What is your favourite movie? My favourite movie would likely be Inside Out. (I just love Amy Poehler.)

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you need? If I were stranded on an island I'd need food, water and a house, because that would probably make surviving a little bit easier.

When did you start playing hockey? I started playing hockey in grade 4, I started goalie in grade 6.

What is your favourite thing about hockey? My favourite thing about hockey is the fact that 20ish other people are forced laugh at my jokes.

Dayna Owen

Name: Dayna Owen

Position: Goalie

Which shootout move is your favourite? My favourite shootout move is when the player fans on the puck, or a shot right in the chest.

What is your favourite food? My favourite food is meatballs and rice.

What is your favourite movie? My favourite movie is Pitch Perfect.

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you need? I would need water, ice cream and a hammock.

When did you start playing hockey? I started playing hockey in second year Novice, so when I was 7 years old.

What is your favourite thing about hockey? My favourite thing about hockey is being able to meet so many new people and play on a team where we are all striving towards the same goal of success in the sport we love to play. I love the team aspect of the sport and the level of compete and intensity that hockey has. Most of all hockey is fun and the sport I most enjoyed when I was younger and continue to enjoy more and more each year.
