Tonight's Storyline
So Saturday night was fun, wasn't it? A hattrick from Connor McDavid and five goals for the Oilers. It was about damn time too.
As much as it would be nice to see a similar performance on home ice tonight, I won't be holding my breath as the Blackhawks have been allowing just 1.40 goals per 60 minutes at 5-on-5 this season, that's the best rate in the NHL. Now, at first glance the Hawks powerplay might look bad - okay, 12.44 goals against per 60 minutes is terrible rather than bad - but that was more of an early season problem than a total system problem as the Hawks have allowed just three powerplay goals in their last 11 games; they allowed 15 powerplay goals (seriously, 15) in their first eight games of the season. Could the Oilers score five again tonight? Of course they could, Connor McDavid is on the team so anything is possible, but like I said, I won't be holding my breath.
