More Of The Same

It took just 83 seconds for the Stars to get on the board.  Jason Spezza scored his sixteenth goal of the year from Johnny Oduya.  Jamie Benn would strike for the Stars in the second period to give them a 2-0 lead.  The Oilers would split that lead in half with a late power play goal from Teddy Purcell, but the Stars would make it 3-1 a mere fifteen seconds later with a goal from Jyrki Jokipakka.  Nail Yakupov would score his fourth of the year late in the third period, but it would be too little, too late as the Stars toppled the Oilers to get off the schneid.

The Oilers enter the All-Star break hosting Nashville.

The Oilers are saying

"Both teams had a lot of looks...We got better as the game went on, and that's a positive, but at the end of the day it seems like we're on the wrong side of those (close games) more so than the good side"

That's Oilers forward Teddy Purcell on Edmonton's 3-2 loss to Dallas on Tuesday

The Oilers have lost ten of eleven single goal games in the 2015-16 season.

The opponents are saying

""We've got to be consistent with what we're doing...There are a lot of things that go into it.  We're at our best when we're playing with energy and we execute well..."  Source
That's Nashville head coach Peter Laviolette on his team's recent performance.  Predators are just one point out of a playoff spot, but have won just 3 games in their last 14.

Have some of this

  • With Brandon Davidson hitting the IR, Griffin Reinhart gets his second look in Edmonton this year.  His first stint saw him appear in 12 games, no points, and 8 PIM.
  • One more game until Connor McDavid.  One more game until Connor McDavid.  ONE MORE GAME until Connor McDavid.
  • Cam Talbot (9-13-3, .915 SV% / 2.58 SV% / 1 SO) will likely go for Edmonton tonight.  The Predators are likely to counter with Pekka Rinne (17-15-7, .903 SV% / 2.54 GAA / 2 SO)
  • PACIFIC WATCH / SHOOTING FOR SIXTH:  Oilers on a two game skid, are now eight points out of third in the Pacific.  The Canucks currently occupy third in the Pacific with 51 points.
  • Connor McDavid (clavicle), Andrew Ference (hip), Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (hand), Brandon Davidson (undisclosed), Lauri Korpikoski (foot)  and Oscar Klefbom (hand), are out for the Oilers.  Nashville will be without Colin Wilson (lower body) and Gabriel Bourque (undisclosed)
