The Edmonton Oilers have signed former Columbus Blue Jacket Mark Letestu to a 3 year contract that will pay him $1.8 mil per season.
The Elk Point native is coming off a season where he scored 13 points in 54 games. Letestu is best described as a versatile forward who has the ability to play as a wing, or a center and has spent time as a penalty kill specialist. Playing a little over 10 minutes a game, Letestu scored 1.2 even strength points per 60 minutes last season.
This signing is one I am a big fan of. A 30-year old Letestu will come in and compete for a bottom six position on the team. With Boyd Gordon being traded last night, the Oilers needed to fill his role in the lineup and he costs a little over a million less than Gordon did.
A former Bonnyville Pontiac, Letestu alluded to the fact that the Oilers new coaching staff, talented lineup and Connor McDavid all helped him in his decision to move to Edmonton.
