Oilers Give Pens Permission To Talk To Todd Nelson

We're looking for a good teacher with a really good resume. We have some guys that we're interviewing that have NHL experience, that have AHL experience, that have been successful there. We lost a terrific coach in John Hynes. He did a terrific job and now he's rewarded for it. But I feel comfortable that we're going to have a very good coach there.

That's Penguins GM, Jim Rutherford, talking to the Tribune-Review about the franchise's vacant AHL head coaching position, a position that the Penguins have received permission to speak to Todd Nelson about filling. And before you even ask, as per the story, the Oilers will not receive a draft pick as compensation should the Penguins decide to hire Nelson.
