The big story of the day, for Oilers fans at least, was the hiring of Todd McLellan as the Oilers newest head coach. The only thing I don't like about this signing is that the team referred to him, in their tweet announcing the move, as the 14th coach in team history, but in these parts we count the WHA years and that means that he's the 19th coach in team history. A small thing, I'll probably get over it.

Martin Marincin remains one of Edmonton’s most tradable assets as they need to address the overall talent on the defense. Some might have already given up on his future with the Oilers, and this episode in the AHL only reaffirms their conclusions, but I strongly believe that would be a mistake.

Final Thought
McLellan, who has "playoff failures" is 30-32 in the playoffs since he became head coach of the Sharks. In that same time, Babcock is 39-38
