A Point For The Condors’ Defense

Oilers lose 2-1 in OT to the Canucks

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

After a short hiatus I’m back to share another Oilers loss with you. This time the Oilers pulled a Canucks and got a point out of a loss.

Highlights

Thoughts

I’m gonna deviate from my normal Good, Bad and Ugly today. A large contingent of the Copper and Blue were out drinking tonight and I basically drew the short straw because I couldn’t make it to Edmonton. So I got to watch the game by myself in Airdrie and what a game to watch!

I got to watch Nikita Nikitin display his AHL skill in the NHL. Making poor decissions with the puck and when to pinch. I got to watch Justin Schutlz kill penatlies for the Canucks with Norris like finess. And I got to watch Canucks take cheap shots at Cam Talbot while he was trying to stop them from scoring.

As much as the Oilers’ corsi looked good tonight, they did not seem to pass the eye test. There was poor power plays, bad zone entries and sub-super hero goaltending. It was tough to watch and maybe it was because it was the Canucks or maybe it was because I wasn’t enjoying a beer or two with the rest of the crew.

No matter how you look at it, the Oilers got a point and that is better than we could hope for in a road game. Most of us can’t wait for the return of Connor McDavid, Nail Yakupov or Oscar Klefbom. Hopefully these 1 goal games start to move to 2 or 3 or 4 goal games when the whole team is healthy.

Up Next

Well no time to rest, the Oilers take on the Flames tomorrow and this Oilers AHL defense gets to face off against arguably the best defense in the Pacific division. Luckily my brother in law (a Flames fan) got me tickets to the game. I sure hope the Oilers can win this one.
