I'm not a big fan of the format for the upcoming World Cup. The format, with a Team from Europe and a under 24 North American team team, all seems more than a little gimickey to me. Of course lots of people will tune in for the same reason that people watch the All-Star Game, because it's on. And those that do tune in will get to see Oilers head coach Todd McLellan running the bench of the North American team.
Team North America to name Oilers coach Todd McLellan head coach for 2016 World Cup today.

As was announced previously, Team North America will be built by Peter Chiarelli and Stan Bowman. That connection with the Oilers is probably part of the reason that McLellan has been named the team's coach. The Oilers connections won't stop there though, with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Connor McDavid both being quite likely to make the team as well.
