Unless Craig Howson makes a significant trade, Day 2 at the NHL Draft is going to be a boring one for Edmonton fans. The wheeling and dealing done throughout the 2013-14 season leaves Edmonton with five picks on the second day:
4-1: William Lagesson, D, Frolunda - 6'3", 203 lbs. Profile here.
4-21: Zach Nagelvoort, G, Michigan - 6'2", 208 lbs. 20 years old.
5-10: Liam Coughlin, F, Vernon Vipers - 6'3", 201 lbs.
6-3: Tyler Vesel, F, Omaha Lancers - 5'11", 185 lbs.
7-3: Keven Bouchard, G, Val d'Or Foreurs - 6'3", 205 lbs.
Look for the Oilers to continue their long-standing tradition of drafting big players without a track record but with the always-desirable "hands" and "upside".
The catalog of picks the Oilers traded away include:
2-3, exchanged for David Perron
3-3, exchanged for Ben Scrivens, later exchanged for Marian Gaborik
5-3, exchanged for Viktor Fasth
5-17, exchanged for Nikita Nikitin, original acquired in exchange for Nick Schultz
I don't think that Scott MacTavish will make a trade today, but I wouldn't be shocked if or all of Sam Gagner, Anton Lander and Jeff Petry leave for parts unknown.
Hang out with us today and follow the news here. Relax, kick back and enjoy the festivities.
