This is good, very good.
The Oilers have re-signed centre Mark Arcobello to a one year deal. Terms have not been disclosed, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a one-way deal.
Definitely a bit of a surprise here. I was fairly sure it was sure it was the end of Mark Arcobello's time in Edmonton after he was demoted a couple of months back. I really thought it was the end of Mark Arcobello's time in Edmonton after he wasn't called up instead of Steve MacIntyre. Or Tyler Pitlick. Or anyone else.
Arcobello was more than serviceable during his time on the big club, scoring 18 points in 41 games. 28 points in 15 games for the Barons isn't too bad either. A healthy Mark Arcobello in the Oilers' lineup means that Ryan Smyth gets back to the wing where he belongs. That is, of course, if Ryan Smyth is one of Edmonton's top twelve forwards next year, And right now, he is.
The signing of Mark Arcobello ensures a capable player down the middle of the fourth line. If 94 is here another year, it's two capable players on the fourth line. Who knows, perhaps the team will find another player to go on the right side of the fourth line.
They signed Arcobello, I'm not asking for much more today.
