Welcome Back Ales
The Oilers first period tribute to Ales Hemsky.
About Last Night
Sesame Street Makes an Appearance at Rexall - The Copper & Blue - Oilers blow a 5-2 lead and lose in the shootout to the Stars. Of course they did.
Dallas Stars Come Back From Three Goal Deficit To Beat Edmonton Oilers In Shootout - Defending Big D - They were down three goals. They fought back to not only tie it, but to get the full two points after being down. They easily could have folded, like they had earlier this season. But the best players elevated their compete levels and they looked like they would not be stopped from getting the full two points. It wasn't pretty, but at the end of the day, they don't ask how you got the points, just how many.
Edmonton Oilers player grades. Oil leak away 3-goal lead as latest losing slide reaches 7 games - Cult of Hockey - The two worst defensive teams in the National Hockey League went at it on Sunday, and gave an excellent demonstration as to why that is. Each team tallied 5 times in a game that featured much better attacking than defending, and netminding that can best be described as erratic at both ends of the ice. 8 of the 10 goals were scored on second-shot attempts, 6 of them rebounds off the goalie, the other 2 off blocked shots, with each team scoring just once on a clean shot.
More Oilers News
Edmonton Oilers demote Anton Lander. Presumably there's a reason. - OilersNation - Well, nobody’s going to say Anton Lander didn’t get a fair crack at the NHL. He had six shots, four hits and won 69 percent of his faceoffs in his latest one-game call-up, so naturally the Edmonton Oilers – loaded to the gills with centres who do all that stuff – shipped him off to the farm moments after the end of that game.
Man In The Corner Shop - Lowetide - It’s easy to create parallels between Steve Tambellini’s disastrous 2011 summer and MacT’s 2014 edition. Cam Barker was a bad signing but Niki Nikitin might be worse and that’s a fact. Niki Khabibulin might have been injured a lot but he could goaler. If we’re honest about this, Craig MacTavish may not be in any way superior to Tambellini or post 2006 Kevin Lowe. That’s a surprise to me, I thought he would be better.
What's Next for the Edmonton Oilers - The Hockey Writers - The Edmonton Oilers have had a rough season to say the least, but what does that mean for the future of the organization? A round table discussion determines all the answers.
Around The NHL
Cox: Eakins may return to Maple Leafs - Sportsnet.ca - On Hockey Night in Canada's second intermission "Headlines" segment, Damien Cox said recently-fired Oilers coach Dallas Eakins could come back to Toronto.
The Top 10 Shootout Goals of 2014 - Puck Daddy - I haven't got past #10 yet.
