Andrew Ference Suspended Three Games

Ference's dangerous hit to the head of Vancouver's Zack Kassian will cost him three games.

Everyone loves to see Zack Kassian get smashed.  Problem is, when a hit's principal point of contact is the opponent's head, that's dangerously bad.  Also:  when you leave your feet to deliver a head shot, that's not very good either.

Andrew Ference will miss the next three games for this hit to the head on Canucks forward Zack Kassian.  He'll be out for games in Philadelphia, Boston, and Buffalo.

It's true that Ference has been no screaming hell for the Oilers on the blue, but with him out for the next three games, it becomes very possible that Brad Hunt is recalled just one day after being sent down in favour of Oscar Klefbom.

I've never wished for Nikita Nikitin to be in the lineup more than I just did a moment ago.
