Oilers @ Canucks Game 2 Preview

Oilers try to get foul stench of Calgary loss out of their mouths. Hello, Vancouver.

Yell louder.
Yell louder.

The opposing view: Nucks Misconduct

Nope

The Oilers amassed forty shots in their first game of the season.  That's good.  They yielded five goals to Calgary on 26 shots against.  That's bad.   The Oilers went down by two goals in the first five minutes of Thursday's season opener and were never fully able to recover.  Game 2 of the 2014-15 season is in Vancouve.  The Canucks defeated the Flames by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday.

The Oilers are saying

"I don't want last year and all the years before to turn this into a giant snowball rolling"

That's Oilers coach Dallas Eakins on his club after Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Calgary Flames

A few things went right for Edmonton in Thursday's game.  A lot more went wrong, as the Oilers were unable to put more than two goals behind Flames netminder Karri Ramo.  Though the Oilers did lose their home opener to their provincial rival, Coach Eakins doesn't want the team to put too much stock into one game, else people might get the idea that this year's team is like last year's.  Or the one before that.  Or the one before that.  Or the one before that.  Or the one before that.   Or the one before that.  Or the one before that.  Or the one before that.

The Opponent is saying

"We're hopeful he'll play, but that will be decided (Saturday)

  • Paging Martin Marincin.  Martin Marincin.  You have a telephone call at the front desk.
  • Viktor Fasth will start between the pipes tonight for the Oilers.  While Thursday certainly wasn't a gold star memory for Ben Scrivens, refuse the opportunity to bring the pitchforks out after the game.  Especially when, you know, this happens.  Ryan Miller is expected to get the nod for Vancouver.
  • OLD GIMMICK IS OLD. Stop doing this.  I admit it sent a message the first time it happened.  Each subsequent time it's happened, the lustre hasn't been there.  Throw money instead.  Also, throw money at me.  The kind that folds.  Thanks.
  • SLIGHTLY LOUD - For the Oilers fan that has every possible thing in the world, there's this.
