The Oilers came back in a game that seemed to be completely out of hand. The Coyotes scored 3 first period goals and added a fourth early in the second period. As it happens with score effect the Oilers started to push back and Matt Hendricks was able to notch his first goal as an Oilers late in the second period. David Perron scored early into the third period and with more than half of the period left Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored to make it a one goal game. As interesting as the Oilers made the game late into the third they still fell short of tying it. Overall an entertaining third period but the first 30 minutes or so was quite tough to watch.
Highlights
The Momentum Killer
The momentum killer in the game was the Oilers them selves. Even after the first goal against they seemed to be handling themselves quite well. When Radim Vrbata scored the power play goal it seemed to kill the Oilers. They didn't really to come back to life until well after the fourth goal against was scored.
The Momentum Driver
The third line/fourth line of Ryan Jones, Boyd Gordon and Matt Hendricks played a really good game. If we are calling this line the fourth line they had the most effective fourth line so far this season.
Next Game
The next "game" is the Oilers vs Oilers. I decided to take three of my boys to the skills comp to give them a chance to see one version of the Oilers win. The best thing about it will be how excited my boys will be.
Seriously the next game is the Nashville Predators on Sunday. Looking forward to a Devan Dubnyk start.
