Preseason | Preseason |
Top Story: If roster building had anything to do with pre-season games, about half of the roster would still be up in the air and guys like Tyler Pitlick, Linus Omark, Jesse Joensuu and Anton Lander would have the inside track to some of the top slots.
The Oilers are saying:
Only preseason, with many players who won't be here Oct 1st, but in last 65 min Edm been outshot 39-26. Last year 29th in SF/SA ratio at -6.

Gregor isn't an Oiler, but oh well. Of all of the times to finally pay attention to shot differential (which I assume his "ratio" of -6 refers to) he decides to pay attention in split-squad pre-season games.
The Opponent is saying:
"Yeah, I do. I am not going to tell you that. David suffered a very serious injury last year. He is a big part of this team moving forward and we have to protect our team."
--Mike Gillis, on the status of David Booth's surgically-repaired ankle.
The Canucks are no longer a much deeper team than everyone in the conference, so getting bang for their buck is important this season. If Booth isn't healthy and driving play, the Canucks are going to be hard-pressed to replace him.
David Booth is taking to the ice for the first time this morning with the non-playing group. #Canucks
