Reid Petryk will draw in at centre for the Oilers' rookies in their game against the Univeristy of Alberta Golden Bears tonight. He we replace Jujhar Khaira, who sits for the game in front of the hometown fans. No offense to Petryk, but this comes as a disappointment to the fans who wanted to get a look at the 2012 3rd round pick who has been one of the few players to impress for the Oilers rookies.
Petryk, an Edmonton native, will center Kyle Platzer and Kale Kessy in front of friends and family. Petryk will play his overage season for the Everett Silvertips in 2013-14 and serve as a teammate to Khaira. He was an invite to rookie camp after scoring 16 goals in 70 games last season for the Silvertips.
With Khaira sitting and Jackson Houck still out suffering from a concussion the Oilers' small bit of skill amongst the forwards is even more limited and could have a very difficult time against the more experienced Golden Bears.
