The National League playoffs began in Switzerland today and Linus Omark's EV Zug squad will square off against HC Lugano in the first round. Omark led his team to a 3rd place finish with 91 points in the NLA, giving fans some optimism heading into the playoffs. Zug last won a league title in 1998, but now they have Omark, the league's leading scorer.
Omark scored 17 goals and assisted on 52 others as he piled up 69 points in 48 games. Omark beat NHL veteran Glen Metropolit by 5 points to lay claim to the scoring title in the NLA.
Using NHLe, Omark's scoring totals translate to 12 goals and 36 assists for 48 points in 82 games at the NHL level, making the NLA the fifth league in which Omark has scored .5 points per game NHL or NHLe rate or better.
Omark will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
