Word out of Oklahoma City today is that Theo Peckham has been spotted ascending into the clouds high above Will Rogers Airport, headed back to Edmonton after the completion of his conditioning assignment. Peckham was sent down to Oklahoma City after being activated from injured reserve, where he spent a month rehabilitating a hip flexor injury. Peckham reportedly began training camp out of shape and overweight and required time in Oklahoma City to return to game shape.
Peckham played four games, tallying one assist and amassing 29 penalty minutes. Peckham will arrive in Edmonton as the 8th defenseman on a very shaky defensive corps and should have the opportunity to play significant minutes if he proves himself to be in shape, likely competing with Mark Fistric, Corey Potter, and Ryan Whitney for a spot on the 3rd pairing. Peckham's return to the Oilers does give Ralph Krueger some flexibility as Krueger was managing a shortened roster with Peckham taking up a spot while in Oklahoma City.
