The opposing view: Defending Big D

Top Story: The Oilers and Stars are on opposite tracks right now. The Oilers are struggling - they've won one of their last five games, but were terribly outplayed in their one win. The Stars are on a roll - they've won three games in a row and it's a strong posession game leading the way.

The Oilers are saying:

"We have to rectify that problem of not putting teams away."

--Ales Hemsky, on the Oilers burying the chances they get.

The Opponent is saying:

"It’s still a little weird playing with Jagr. You grow up watching him, and he was just such a dominant player. And he’s been good for us this year. Brenden, of course, I’ve played with before. He brings a simple plan to our line and a lot of grit."

--Jamie Benn, on his linemates.

Key matchup: Jamie Benn is an Oilers-wrecker. He's tallied 14 points in 11 career games against the Oilers and Edmonton had no answer for him last time out. Part of the problem in the previous game was depth-related: five minutes into the game, the Oilers were left with one centre - Sam Gagner. The Oilers have been surrendering shots like the French surrender land - this is not a good thing when one of your goalies is the Maginot Line. Edmonton has to find a way to tilt the ice in their direction and it starts against Benn.
