Top Story:

• The Oilers made a couple of roster moves last night, sending defenceman Ladislav Smid to Calgary for fourth liner Roman Horak and goaltending prospect Laurent Brossoit. The Oilers didn't receive a defenceman in return, so look for a new face on the blue line for today's game. Edmonton also signed goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov to a one year deal. Bryzgalov will not be dressed for today's game.

The Oilers are saying:

"I put them on lines today being hopeful that they'll be able to (play)"

That's Oilers coach Dallas Eakins on David Perron and Jesse Joensuu hopefully getting back into the lineup today.

Linus Omark and Ben Eager are headed back to Oklahoma City, which suggests that both David Perron and Jesse Joensuu will be in tomorrow's lineup versus the Flyers.  Both Perron and Joensuu skated yesterday with the team. Perron had been out with a neck injury, while Joensuu had been sidelined with a bad back.

The Opponent is saying:

"I've been in the game 47 years, and I've never seen anything like this. We certainly know we're more talented than what we're showing on the ice."

That's Flyers Chairman Ed Snyder on the state of the Flyers.

Philadelphia has started the 2013-14 campaign in similar fashion to the Oilers, which isn't good if you're a Flyers fan. The team is scoring less than a goal and a half per game, while allowing nearly twice that number. Three players are tied for the team lead in points with seven. Even the Sabres (!) are scoring more than the Flyers.

Of note:

Anton Belov took in a full practice yesterday, and likely is a go today.

The Flyers aren't hanging wins in the standings, but goaltender Steve Mason has began the season with a .925 SV%, which is awfully good on a team with four wins in fifteen games.
