Top Story:

  • The Oilers are coming off a 7-0 pasting of the Columbus Blue Jackets, which was nice, big cathartic moment for fans of this team, for players of this team, and likely for anyone associated with this team in any way, shape or fashion. Everything was hitting the net. Nail Yakupov was drawing penalties, Ryan Smyth was scoring, David Perron was David Perron, dogs and cats were living together in peace and harmony, things were good at Rexall Place. Now on a two game winning streak, the Oilers will look to make it three in a row when they host the Panthers, who have a two game winning streak of their own.

The Oilers are saying:

"When you've got a mix that can win the game, I don't know how you can change it"

That's Oilers coach Dallas Eakins on not tinkering with the lineup after a 7-0 victory.

It's hard to argue with this line of thinking, especially when the Oilers just got done drubbing the Blue Jackets by a seven spot. I'm still going to beat the drum for Arcobello to be back in the lineup, and you should as well.

The Opponent is saying:

"I don't think having it be here is a factor...it's more that we'd won two of three coming into this, we'd been putting some good efforts together, playing some quality teams, getting some points and just to be able to keep it going to make it three in four and win back-to-back games for the first time this year was huge. So, it's not so much about being here as that was a result we needed"

That's Panthers goaltender Tim Thomas on being a part of Florida's first win in Vancouver in 19 years. Florida defeated the Panthers in a 3-2 shootout on Tuesday.

Of note:

The plan was to get netminder Ilya Bryzgalov in the net tonight for his first action as an Edmonton Oiler, but if Dallas Eakins holds true to his words, Devan Dubnyk will get the start after earning his first shutout of the season on Tuesday. Dubnyk had to turn aside just fourteen saves, and has allowed just six goals over his last four starts.

Comedians are everywhere.

A win today doesn't put the Oilers in any conversation about a playoff spot, but three in a row is a fun streak to talk about before facing the Blackhawks sans Khabibulin. And "fun" is something fans of this team should be having at this point.
