Oilers Recall Anton Lander and Richard Bachman

Tyler Pitlick is likely on the shelf and something is up in goal.

News from Oklahoma City this morning by way of Eric Rodgers:

Coupled with the news Tyler Pitlick knee injury, the Lander call-up tells us a bit about the severity of Pitlick's injury and the Bachman call-up tells us something is going on in goal, either an injury or Dallas Eakins wasn't pleased with the way Jason LaBarbera handled himself in suffering some unlucky goals against yesterday.

This also sheds light on the injuries both Jesse Joensuu and Ryan Hamilton are recovering from - neither are close to returning.

Lander will likely slot in on the left wing with Boyd Gordon and Ryan Jones, filling Pitlick's spot directly.  If Pitlick has to spend extended time on the IR, it's a crushing blow.  His first three games in the NHL were better than anyone expected, and more than a team could hope for out of the 17th forward in the organization.

Even yesterday in injury, Pitlick came out strong and played a physical forechecking game reminiscent of the "little teams that could" before scoring his first NHL goal.  As has been the case since...forever...we sit and wait on news about another young forward and hope for the best.
