Steve Tambelilini went from being "one of the busiest people at the 2012 trade deadline" to one of the quietest simply by signing Andy Sutton and Ales Hemsky. Where the Oilers were supposed to deal for more picks to sustain the rebuild, now they've got a whole bunch of used and used up parts they're hoping to pawn off on some sucker.
Who is available?
Cam Barker - "a failed reclamation project" that never had a chance, the GM that trades for Barker is the worst GM in the NHL.
Nikolai Khabibulin - He's got one year left at $3.75 million and it's guaranteed. Only a desperate GM with a ton of cap space is going to take him and they aren't going to give up much.
Darcy Hordichuk - he's always willing to get punched in the face repeatedly. That must be worth something to someone.
Theo Peckham - signing Sutton and the continued need for a top 4 defenseman mean the Oilers need to move a defenseman before the 2012-13 season starts. While I think Peckham is better used as a piece of a trade involving the #2 overall for a legitimate top pairing defenseman, he might go tomorrow for a draft pick.
Random rumor mongers have quoted "sources" saying that Ben Eager, Sam Gagner, Tom Gilbert, Ryan Smyth, Eric Belanger and Magnus Paajarvi are available, but that makes as much sense as trading for Cam Barker.
