Jewels From The Crown

Kings Gameday: Boo This Man - Battle of California
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Subj: Dustin Penner - Battle of California
For some reason, Penner has been averaging shots from really far out this season. If I had to guess, I'd say it's not so much that he's shooting from farther out as it is he's not getting shots from in close to help bring those numbers down. Penner seems like he'll throw the puck on net if he doesn't have a passing lane, which accounts for the farther shots out, but then he's not getting set up in tight to get rebounds and tips that will bring his shot distance down. That's something he's corrected in his last few games, at least, as he's been driving the net a lot more. Hopefully that holds.

I just think it's funny that Darryl Sutter moved into Terry Murray's house - Jewels From The Crown
Last Tuesday, on the first Kings’ off day in a while, Darryl finally moved into his new place – Murray’s house, as it happens. That happens all the time when players get traded – they swap houses as well – but not as frequently among coaches. His wife and son will come down to Los Angeles during the all-star break, but they are otherwise staying behind in Calgary so Christopher can finish Grade 12.

NHL Wines - Battle of California
Edmonton Oilers wine: Far too immature to be taken seriously.

Right Now, The Oilers Are The NHL's Worst Team - Oil Acumen
The good news is that the only other team to do that was the Quebec Nordiques from 1989-1991. The bad news is that none of those three first overall picks were members of the eventual powerhouse Colorado Avalanche. As a matter of fact, none of them ever won Cups with any team.

Blow Oilers up some more - Edmonton Sun
Tambellini is going to have to be a sensational seller again primarily because he’s been such a brutal buyer.

Groundhog Day - Black Dog Hates Skunks
Groundhog Day - underrated movie. Would have been a hundred times better without Andie MacDowell in it. Sure she's pretty but I swear a squirrel is going to pop out of her hair at some point, she's so damn wooden. Ruins every movie she's in. Put Julianne Moore or Bridget Fonda in there goddamnit!!

The 2011-12 Edmonton Oilers Drinking Game - Oil On Whyte
With that in mind I created for you, gentle reader, the 2011-12 Edmonton Oilers themed Drinking Game. Oh, there’ll be action, suspense, and it’ll repress games like last night’s into a black box stored deep into your cerebral cortex.

G44 Kings at Oilers - Lowetide
I was rather surprised Friday night and yesterday to read emails and posts that were extremely negative toward the Oilers and management. I understand being upset about this team’s "building by sundial" approach and agree that there are all kinds of things to scream about (relying on Ryan Whitney for one) but what about Friday night’s game surprised you?

Oilers vs. Kings – Game 44 - Putting on the Foil
Anyways, the Oilers are in a world of hurt right now, sliding down the standings… they’re running out of spots to slide down to. Currently, only the team that beat them 5-0 (Anaheim Ducks) and the Columbus Blue Jackets sit below them in the standings. The Ducks are just one point behind. Let’s be honest… when the season started, no one expected the Oilers would be near the top of the standings like they were… however this has been a monumental collapse to their season and is incredibly disappointing. There are cries for a few heads out in Oilersland from Renney to Tambellini. I’m not willing to give up on Renney, but the other fellow seems to be either still in the tear-it-down phase, or is horrible at reacting to troubled times here and plugging holes.
