NHL Power Rankings: Detroit Red Wings Push Back To The Top Of The West - SBNation.com
Edmonton has stalled in the bottom half of the conference, and the Oilers will remain there as long as they can't handle away games.
Calgary is at the bottom of the Northwest Division and they've lost six of their last ten games. Things are bad, but not bad enough to trade Jarome Iginla.
Am I A Blogger In the Basement In my Underwear? - Matchsticks and Gasoline
There are very few times in which I'm actually angry with the management of the Calgary Flames. I'm frequently disappointed, yes, but rarely angry. This is one of those times. In a press conference today, GM Jay Feaster took the low road and called bloggers discussing the Jarome Iginla rumors basement dwellers who exist only in underwear. ... The origin of all this was two members of the mainstream media- Eric Francis and Bruce Garrioch.
Why the Calgary Flames Won't Trade Jarome Iginla - Matchsticks and Gasoline
But really, no matter how much Eric Francis, Bruce "Malkin to the Kings" Garrioch, and Eklund report it, we won't see Iginla move. The fact is, he's a money maker for the franchise. Know what the Flames twitter feed does everytime Iginla scores? It posts something like "IGGY IGGY IGGY" five times over. How about anyone else? One tweet.
Cory Sarich Wants Out - Matchsticks and Gasoline
Rhett Warrener has reported that Cory Sarich requested a trade out of Calgary. Speechless. Then confusion. Followed by bewilderment. Bouts of furious laughter. Feelings of intense anger... and finally, a weird sensation of acceptance and pity.
Mark Giordano Scoring Chance WOWY - Matchsticks and Gasoline
The popular opinion around the Saddlesphere is that Mark Giordano's been struggling mightily in the first quarter of the season, and the two prevailing narratives thus far are a) that Scott Hannan isn't an adequate defensive partner and b) he's been saddled with sub-par forward performances by the likes of Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay.
Picking up Blake Comeau is Planning for the Summer - Matchsticks and Gasoline
Why am I spewing random theory about how GMs operate? Because it's all incredibly pertinent to the Flames claiming Blake Comeau off waivers on Friday.

G27 Flames at Oilers - Lowetide
Last night's win was important for clearance. Should the Oilers beat the Flames tonight--certainly possible but not a certainty--they would enjoy a 9-point cushion on the Pine Island Lodge for the Aged. Although the Iginla's would have two games in hand, that's still a nice gap.
