G8 Canucks at Oilers - Lowetide
Terry Harper and Tom Gilbert are not good comps in terms of style, but they are a match in one way: the home fans aren't impressed despite evidence of their effectiveness.
The Kid Line’s Real Test Will Come In November - Jonathan Willis
Still, there is some reason to believe that road games are going to pose a stiffer test for both the Kid Line and Tom Renney’s resolve to maintain it as a unit.
Snakebitten Eberle and Paajarvi Due For Goals - Jonathan Willis
Jordan Eberle has something of a special distinction right now: among NHL forwards, he has the second-highest shot total without recording a goal. Fellow sophomore Magnus Paajarvi isn’t far behind either; he is also goal-less and in the top-10 in terms of shots without scoring.
Corey Potter: Here to Stay? - Oil On Whyte
This tells me that it’s possibly, only a matter of time before Potter shows us the reason he’s only been an AHL player. Or it could mean that he has finally figured it out, turned a corner, and is going to prove all his nay-sayers wrong.
Oilers Jambalaya - Game Day "Canucks"
Maybe 10% of people actually believe it is in the best Interest of Nugent-Hopkins to go back to Jr and maybe 10% that believe it is in the best interest of the Oilers to send him back to Jrs based on ELC.
The David Booth Trade - The Copper & Blue
There's probably not a lot of hope for him to hit that career high over and over, but playing alongside Ryan Kesler, there's certainly hope that he'll help to push the play in the right direction and pot twenty goals. Plus, at just twenty-six years old, Booth is in the prime of his career.
Mike Gillis On the Trade - Nucks Misconduct
When you watch really closely, you can see Mike Gillis struggling not to smile when he is asked about what he gave up..."they wanted those players"
Game 9: Canucks At Oilers Preview: I Like It. I'm Not Gonna Crack. - Nucks Misconduct
-Intriguing is Cody Hodgson being demoted to the 3rd line with the arrival of Booth and the stellar efforts of Chris Higgins. Cody on a checking line. Let's see how he does there. He was benched for much of the Canucks' last game, a 4-3 win over the Wild. I'm confused about something though. Isn't Hodgson considered a "rookie"? He didn't play more than 25 games last season. Is there then a 10 game limit hanging over his head where the Canucks will have to pay him his NHL salary after next game? Hmmmmmmmmmmm.
More on the David Booth trade, where everybody bought low - Puck Daddy - NHL Blog - Yahoo! Sports
I've already gone on record as saying that I liked the move. Heck, most people did, especially fans of the Vancouver Canucks. It was pretty much chalked up as a supermega win for Mike Gillis and a swinging-a-cat-by-the-tail, adult-diaper-wearing, biggest-idiot-ever moment for Dale Tallon.
