According to the Oilers, goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin has been placed on IR and Martin Gerber has been recalled. So much for the idea that Khabibulin had received a mercy pull in last night's showing against the Blackhawks at Rexall Place. The story breaking today is that Khabibulin has sustained a groin injury. Gerber was visually and statistically the Oilers best goaltender during pre-season. This may make Oilers games far more enjoyable at least for a little while.
