Alexandre Picard On Waivers

According to Puck-rakers, the Columbus Blue Jackets have placed LW Alexandre Picard on waivers. Jean-Francois Jacques' long lost brother has scored one assist in 43 NHL games, after being selected 8th overall in 2004. He's never played more than 71 games in a season, and unlike Jacques, he hasn't been terribly productive at the AHL level either.

Given the talent that's sailed through the waiver wire already this season, I'd be very surprised if he's claimed. Despite his draft pedigree, Edmonton certainly shouldn't be interested, since they already have more effective players of the same type anyway.

It's been a bad week for once-highly-touted Coke machines - the Rangers traded ECHL all-star Hugh Jessiman, selected 12th overall in 2003, to Nashville last Thursday for future considerations. Jessiman remains the only player selected in the first round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft who hasn't played an NHL game.
