In one of the oddest hockey stories I have read in quite some time, Gilbert Brule and his girlfriend while in Vancouver picked up a hitchhiking U2 frontman Bono and an assistant the Edmonton Journal reports.
Brule and his girlfriend were in Vancouver to go to game one of the Stanley Cup finals, but after helping Bono who was caught in the rain, they changed their plans and instead went backstage at the U2 concert in Edmonton.
There are also many people who attended the concert reporting that Bono said "I’m ever so grateful. I’ve decided that I want to be Gilbert Brule."
