A "realistic" trade scenario

This is what happens when "trade rumors" make it mainstream:

"I think we could realistically trade them hartnell (once he’s back from injury), b schenn, and maybe a guy like grossman for yakupov and Shultz. Both guys are slupping, but both have tremendous upside. I just don’t think the oilers view themselves as having time for their players to go through growing pains any longer. You need to look for desperate teams when thinking about making trades and I think the oilers are more desperate than most "

Rangers Analysis: Should They Be Sizing Up a Jersey for Sheldon Souray?

Insider Information Isn't Always Accurate

I break down the Twitter rumor mill during the lead-up to the Kovalchuk trade and show that reputable insiders spent a lot of time guessing.

Vlasic down with a knee injury?

Rumors are circulating among San Jose fans that Marc-Edouard Vlasic suffered a not-so-minor knee injury against Chicago. If Vlasic is done for the season, does this open the door for a Sheldon Souray trade if Edmonton is able to take some salary back from San Jose in the form of Ryane Clowe?

Dreger says three Oilers likely to be traded

Lubomir Visnovsky, Sheldon Souray, Ethan Moreau are all likely to move by the deadline. Puck Daddy breaks down the rumors here.

HNIC reports Souray will waive NTC "soon"

From Eliot Friedman comes news that Sheldon Souray is putting together his chosen locations and will waive his NTC. Speculation is that his destinations will be limited to Dallas, Phoenix, San Jose, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Colorado and Vancouver. If the Stars are serious about making the playoffs this year, I've suggested that Dallas is the ideal destination for Souray.

Anaheim Comes Calling for Moreau

In what has to be the best news in recent Oilers history, Anaheim general manager Bob Murray has asked Steve Tambellini about Ethan Moreau's availability. If true, this could finally be the shovel that Tambellini needs to dig out from under the Oilers' cap problems. Should Tambellini choose not to move Moreau, this could be the shovel that he uses to dig his own career grave.

Is Anaheim the ideal destination for Sheldon Souray?

Anaheim Calling thinks so. I'm a huge fan of Petteri Nokelainen, but I don't know what else would work in this deal. The Oilers need forwards that can play the NHL game and other than Nokelainen, I don't think anyone else in the Anaheim organization is available. UPDATE: Arthur from Anaheim Calling suggests that Bobby Ryan would be the forward in play if a trade like this were to be made, though he's not confident that Anaheim sees this deal as a possibility. I think that if Ryan is the guy that would be involved, then Edmonton would have to include Cogliano.

Risebrough scouting for the Rangers

Glen Sather has hired good friend Doug Risebrough to scout the western conference. Would Risebrough have interest in Patrick O'Sullivan?
