I really find this hilarious. So Dale is now "Mikey" from the old Life cereal commercial?? "Who's this guy?" "Some defender. He's supposed to be good for your locker room morale." "I'm not gonna try him." "Let's get Tallon!"
From Derek/C&B: (B2011DW's Kirk) Luedeke thinks the Florida Panthers and General Manager Dale Tallon are a likely dance partner if (Edmonton's Steve) Tambellini decides to pull the trigger. Florida has the #3rd overall pick plus #33 and #47 and a wealth of enormous young defensemen in the system in addition to a a stable of enormous forwards drafted by Tallon in last year's entry draft, a draft in which Florida had 13 picks.
Downright Fierce is an artist, and an excellent one at that, and he's edging in on Winters Territory with his cartoon on Toonces - The GM
From the Edmonton Journal's David Staples: "Would you trade Nathan Horton, Stephen Weiss and Cam Fowler for Taylor Hall or Tyler Seguin?" Yet another angle on the top three...and what to do with them. BTW: I think that deal flies with Edmonton, but it is a lot to give up.
I really love this post by Chappy at This Is Not A Love Song. Read each lyric and take in and understand the picture. Scroll down slowly and tell me which picture had the most impact with the lyrics in tandem. Great post, Chappy.
"...I like everything here. I would like to stay in Russia, but I want to get something serious next year. My career will be over soon and thus I can't waste my chances." Kevin Lowe's Jagr strategy might not work out. The superstar hunt begins anew! Paul Kariya sounds like he would fit the vision of this franchise.
As they take those measures, they must also take time and care to develop the few truly bright prospects they do have on the horizon; defencemen Taylor Chorney and Jeff Petry and forwards Jordan Eberle, Linus Omark, Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson and Anton Lander.
The ex-CEO of The Copper & Blue, Jonathan Willis, has an excellent recap of what most of us knew the minute the deal was announced.
I have a hard time believe the Sun, and I presume Garrioch, saying that Tambellini is trying to move these three. He's been unwilling to do something as simple as bring in Wes Walz* to handle a role that has been vacant since Marty Reasoner left town. I also like that the Sun threw out the old "The Oilers are trying to acquire a first-line forward to complement Ales Hemsky" canard.
I also did a live blog of Steve Tambellini's press conference where he announced that Craig MacTavish would not return as Oilers' coach. I'ts worth taking a look at, if you want an overview of exactly what he said.
