Omark's recovery has led him to work on leg strength and speed. He also notes that his agent, Patrik Aronsson, has said there are other NHL clubs interested in Omark.

Rodney will be in the lineup tonight against the Kings. Neal says he's "excruciating" to watch.
The Edmonton #Oilers have recalled left-winger Linus Omark from the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL: ow.ly/9rRlK

An announcement this morning from the Oilers' Twitter feed that Linus Omark has been recalled from Oklahoma City. Omark has played 18 games with the Barons this season recording six goals and ten assists. Omark also spent some time with the Oilers earlier this season but didn't play much, dressing in just five games before being demoted. The timing of this move is interesting for a couple of reasons. First Omark played with the Barons in Peroria, Grand Rapids, and Chicago over the weekend and will now have to fly to Anaheim to meet the Oilers. If he plays tonight and tomorrow that would mean he'd have played five games in five nights, not an ideal situation by any means and not one that Omark is likely to shine in. And secondly, if Omark plays in four or more games with the Oilers he would have to clear waivers to rejoin the Barons for the playoffs. I can't imagine the Oilers would be willing to risk a claim on him so if he stays for any time the Barons will almost certainly be without Omark come playoff time.
The Oilers announced this morning that Taylor Chorney, Teemu Hartikainen, and Magnus Paajarvi have been assigned to the Oklahoma City Barons. With the All-Star break this weekend the Oilers don't play again until next Tuesday, so giving the Barons a roster boost as they get set to host the Houston Aeros and Texas Stars this weekend make a lot of sense.
Also via @okcbaronshockey, Green & Hartikainen still en route to join OKC. Absent from today's lineup. #OKCBarons

Travel issues mean that Hartikainen and Green will not be in the lineup for the Barons today.
Artful Puck has the recap: Tyler Pitlick scored twice and Ryan Martindale once as the Barons shut out the Aeros.
The Cult of Hockey and The Copper and Blue's Bruce McCurdy interviews Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers prior to the Barons - Heat game at the Calgary Saddledome February 18th. Deslauriers comes across as a very serious man, on a career mission. JDD was likely the one player who's development was hurt the most when the Oilers didn't have their own farm team. Next for Deslauriers was battling for backup and starting roles with the Oilers. Currently JDD is backing up Martin Gerber of the Oklahoma City Barons, struggling to find his consistency.
It seems the Oilers are interested in giving prospects and in the system players alike a chance to play a few games in the NHL this year. Most expected the call-up of Teemu Hartikainen to be reflective of potential injuries to Shawn Horcoff, Jean-Francois Jacques and or GIlbert Brule, but the Oilers have assigned Alex Giroux to the Oklahoma City Barons. In his five games with the Oilers, Giroux has had one goal and one assist. Barons' fans will most likely be delited to have a scorer returned for the playoff push after seeing one taken away in Hartikainen.
Jonathan Willis takes a look at the Oilers' management decision to send Jeff Petry down to Oklahoma City and call Taylor Chorney back to the Oilers. Willis speculates that Petry might be the ticket to help the Barons make it from the bubble into a playoff position. Some believe that this is a move that is due to poor performance on Petry's part as of late, and that this move will help Petry find his game and confidence once again. A move that will help the Oilers secure a lottery position and help the Oklahoma Barons make the playoffs seems to be more than a coincidence.
Filling a Linus Omark-shaped hole in the All-Star lineup will be Colin McDonald of the Oklahoma CIty Barons. McDonald is having the best season of his professional career with 23 goals, nearly double his career high . He replaces Omark in the All-Star lineup who is now settled in with the Oilers. The All-Star festivities will take place January 30-31 in Hershey, PA.
