If there is indeed a plan afoot to get a new arena for Calgary, it seems Council is completely unaware of it. Metro's Robson Fletcher is reporting that Alderman Ray Jones, City Council's rep on the Stampede Board, has no answer to Ron McLean's claims this weekend about a new arena plan. Either way, it's not getting any city dollars -- plebicite or not, it's just not happening. How will the Flames find the money? Watch this space!

From KCRA: A new plan for how to build an arena in downtown Sacramento is now expected in June, Mayor Kevin Johnson said Tuesday. "It's going to take a little longer," Johnson told reporters. Johnson had initially said he hoped to offer an update to the City Council as early as May 8.

According to ESPN, a survey of concessions in all North American arenas and stadiums shows that 25% of all vendors at Rexall Place had some sort of violation. This clearly shows one of the understated reasons behind pushing for a new arena - the old one is dirty. Check out Why Downtown? It's allllll downtown, George.

Rexall's 17.3MM in ticket sales (excluding all 41 Oilers games) put it second in Canada, behind only the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
