It may feel like more of the same, and it could be, but there's a chance it could be exactly what the team needs.

In today's press conference announcing changes to the front office, those in charge, including Kevin Lowe, were asked some tough questions. This was a rather unexpected turn of events from a media group that doesn't typically question the message.

Craig MacTavish would be a solid hire in any other city or for any other boss.

Edmonton's management team is shorting their team.

Can the Steve Tambellini era in Edmonton be defined by a willingness to accept an unreasonable degree of risk at the start of each season?

Three years after being fired from his job as the Oilers head coach Craig MacTavish is returning to the team as the new Vice President of Hockey Operations.

Since Lowe, Tambellini et al are unlikely to share their plan publicly (if indeed one exists), I thought it might be a worthwhile exercise to brainstorm such a plan here at Copper & Blue.
