Under the new CBA each team is allowed to buyout two players. When fans of the Oilers think buyout they think Shawn Horcoff but does it make sense to buy him their captain out? Are there any other players they should be looking at?
With NHL lockout now at 83 days and I counting I still can't say that I miss hockey but I have myself thinking more and more about the post-lockout NHL and specifically what the schedule might look like.
The most recent offer from the NHL to the NHLPA included teams being able to offer additional years on contracts to re-sign their own players. Could this potentially lead to the creation of sign-and-trade scenarios in the National Hockey League?
