It's pretty cool to be noticed and have the fans come up and talk to you about the game and tell you how much they appreciate what your doing. It's a fun fun place to play hockey, and yeah its kind of cliché but I think Edmonton is the best place in the league to play.

That's one of the things Ryan Jones had to say to On The Forecheck's Chris Rydburg. On The Forecheck is SBN's Nashville Predators blog, and since Jones started his career in Nashville, this interview is a bit different than what you'd normally get from an Edmonton perspective.

My proposal is to send Cameron Guance + a 4th to Edmonton for Omark. Edmonton gets organizational depth with a legitimate defenseman in Guance who can play now (especially if Justin Shultz gets thrown under the bus early and often). He's not as far off as Oscar Klefbom and could pair well with Jeff Petry going forward.

The folks over at Mile High Hockey are looking at ways to fill a hole in their top nine on the wing and have identified Linus Omark as a man who could fill that role. I'm pro-Omark but at this point it seems unlikely that he'll ever establish himself as an NHL player while wearing an Oilers jersey. So if a trade has to be made, this seems like a decent one to me.

The evidence is that nothing happens. So the economic activity is identical in periods when there was a strike or lockout compared to periods where there was not.... They're not going to see [hockey] anymore but that doesn't mean they're not going to spend their money. They spent their money on some sort of substitute entertainment.

That's the University of Alberta's Brad Humphreys talking about the economic impact an NHL work stoppage might have on the overall economy. The University of Ottawa's Marc Lavoie is also quoted in the article saying, "Arenas and stadiums are like black holes, in the sense that people bring money in and then it disappears, it isn't recirculated in the area."

Sometimes when I went into the boards I would have to lose the battle because I knew if I put my shoulder a certain way it would kind of pop out.

Taylor Hall talks about his shoulder injury, and about the progress of his recovery from it.

Finland Hockey is played well into the spring and the ice hockey world championships seem to come every spring too late, but here the situation is quite ridiculous.

Aapo Mentula argues that the NHL season goes on far too long. The man has a point.

Continuing our affiliation with the Edmonton Oilers has been a high priority for our organization this off-season and we’re very much looking forward to working with them during the 2012-13 season.

That's Stockton Thunder president, Dan Chapman, talking about the renewal of Stockton's affiliation with the Edmonton Oilers. Not all teams in the NHL have an ECHL affiliation, but the Oilers have seen a few players go through Stockton and arrive in the NHL over the last six years. They have used the league as a purposeful developmental step for most of their young goaltending prospects with some success. Both Devan Dubnyk and Olivier Roy began their pro careers there, and Tyler Bunz will likely start there in 2012-13.

Next year I really want to focus on training this summer, then the season and after that I don't think I'd really want to go any where else. I haven't really given it much thought. I was drafted by the Oilers, they saw something in me, they really like me, we have a personal and formal relationship that I really like and hopefully I can land here.

The quote come from Kyle Bigos in an interview that he did with Guy Flaming from The Pipeline Show. It doesn't necessarily mean that Bigos will end up signing a contract with the Oilers, but it is nice to know that his relationship with the organization is a good one.

They say they like me but there is no place for me. Now they got the first choice again [Nail Yakupov] so there is not exactly more space.

That's Linus Omark speaking to Expressen after receiving a qualifying offer from the Oilers on Monday. In the story Omark also talks about the possibility of playing in the KHL next season. This is just the start of what I think could be one of the more interesting story lines during training camp and into the start of the season.
