Linus Omark is currently playing in Switzerland's National League, the best game in town over there and currently home to other NHLers such as Tyler Seguin and Logan Couture. Omark is destroying the competition there, currently sitting second in scoring with 32 points in 22 games. This clip puts him just behind Tyler Seguin (28 in 17) and well ahead of Logan Couture (21 in 17).
In honour of the Rebel League's 40th Anniversary, and inspired in part by Ben's history post, I thought I'd repost my 2010 article on how the changes to professional hockey inspired by the WHA continue to reverberate to this day. Forgive the wacky formatting: website changes will do that.
What's with the lack of content? C&B seems to be dead. No new posts since Oct 3 (1 week). What's going on here?
So I have started up a little blogging project, on the subject of the KHL and Russian hockey in general, and I would like to invite you all to come over and take a look at it! (Site editors, if this is considered an abuse of Fanshot-ing, I apologize and please do delete this)
What would the Oilers give up to get Lou... and would it be a good idea?
With it looking like there is no hockey for the foreseeable future how about Copper N Blue does a top 25 Oilers of all time list? To make it more interesting, do this list as if it was 2027, so that Hall/Eberle/Yak/RNH have all finished their careers(meaning you have to predict what kind of career they will have).
Do it in the format of the top 25 under 25, that should keep us busy for the next month.
Under Alberta law, a mediator must be appointed before an employer can legally lock out its employees. The NHLPA contends the league showed no willingness to work with the mediator it was assigned by the province on Aug. 21.
The Linus Omark saga has apparently come to an end, or at least to a turning point. Mr. Omark has signed with EV Zug in the Swiss league, where he'll join ex-Oiler Jussi Markkanen.
It's pretty cool to be noticed and have the fans come up and talk to you about the game and tell you how much they appreciate what your doing. It's a fun fun place to play hockey, and yeah its kind of cliché but I think Edmonton is the best place in the league to play.
The Predators folks have posted the transcript of a short interview with Mr. Jones, in which he talks about both Nashville and Edmonton.
