The Oilers haven't played a truly meaningful games since mid-November, maybe even a little farther back than that. And with last night's rather surprising win over the Kings, coupled with the Coyotes loss to Calgary, the Oilers two remaining games and now officially meaningless; for the second time straight season the Oilers will finish 28th overall. This will also be the fifth time in six season that the Oilers have finished in the bottom three league wide. The rebuild really is the gift that keep on giving.
With the games now officially meaningless to the Oilers in the standings, I wondered, how much longer until we can close the books on another very disappointing season? The final game of the Oilers 2014/15 campaign will be played this Saturday against the Canucks. Puck drop is at 8:00PM, which means that by about 11:00PM the season will finally, thankfully, be over. And thanks to the internet, I'm able to share this handy countdown to the end of the Oilers season. Somehow knowing exactly how close we are to the end makes me feel a little better. It's a season that has seemed to go on forever, and it's been painful to watch, but don't worry, it'll all be over soon.
