The Oilers have missed out on a cheap, versatile and underrated player to start at Center and move to RW once Nugent-Hopkins returns. Peter Mueller has signed a 1 year deal with a club in Switzerland. Last season on a dreadful team, Mueller had 131 shots, which ranks with the best in the league. 131 in 699 minutes of ice team translates to 3.75 shots per 20 minutes. Over 82 games that would equal 307 shots. That's 6 more shots than Hall's prorated total from last year. At a average shooting percentage of about 10% for wingers, he could have 31 goals in an 82 game season, or 28 goals at a Center's average of 9%. I think the entire NHL has missed out on a solid player. And the Oilers have missed out on a player that suits their immediate and long term needs better than most anyone else available. If he's willing to go to Switzerland you can be sure he would have signed in Edmonton for relatively cheap (under $2million for sure). Shitty news all around for Edmonton, the NHL and Mueller.
