I am a huge Taylor Hall fan, but I am a bigger Stanley Cup fan.I believe Hall is destined to be part of a Championship team in his career.I believe Taylor has been a tremendous part of the Oilers turnaround, which is much more epic than people realise, there are hidden stats not being discussed that I will point out later that support this. The question is,how much could we get in return for Taylor Hall right now today?
This isnt a loyalty issue,we need to also consider who would go with him in a package, because he would be a Blockbuster Franchise changing type of trade and he would never go alone.I have been wondering if we could take a shot at one of the Pens centermen if we offered say Hall and Eberle with a 15 th overall pick?Or Hall and J.Schultz, whatever it takes without crippeling the core.We can lose a 1st overall but only one of the three, and any single support player.
I think that Taylor Hall and the support types we can offer puts us in contention for anyone in the NHL right now, should by god we turf another season and pick top 5 again this might become a realistic situation.Had we played an 82 game season our GF would have been excellent, this stat speaks volumes in that it hasnt taken a sizable jump in many years.
That is the Taylor Hall effect, that is him pulling on the sled.On our team Taylor gives us two #1 lines, that makes us an elite type of team offensively.Any team that can land Taylor at this stage of his career and keep their #1 centerman in the process is building a 2nd 1st line and getting better immediatly. The Pens would be in a saw-off because they could keep a #1 centerman and still have two NHL 1st lines to ice, like they have now just catalysed differently. We could take either Crosby OR Malkin, they both fit in here, and the Pens BADLY need an offensive D-man like J.Schultz, while we can afford to take a hit there due to our incomng defensive type of d-men who are flooding the system.J.Schultz is a nice option on a team as talented as the Oilers ,but he isnt a core value need,he is just extra power on an already hopped up offensive engine. He offers us offensive flexibility while he would offer the Pens offensive stability.I watched Gretzky and Messier and Coffey and other Hall of Famers leave so anything is possible, right?
I wonder what Malkin could do with this team,or Sidney for that matter? We would definately be instant contenders. The Pens have carried both assets for enough years that we can all see it is overkill,if they drop a few spots in their playoff entry because they re-tool who the hell cares? Both those great players do not make the Pens invincible, maybe they need a re-set.Can you imagine Hall and J.Schultz playing with Malkin or Crosby? They might actually get stronger.
To ice the cake imagine how much our division would change overnight if the Pens threw in a wrench like that?It would shake up the entire NHL and just IMAGINE Sidney crosby and Evigny Malkin facing off in the Cup Final for the next five years with offensive powerhouses behind both of them???
Imagine how much that would boost the image of the NHL?net result of the trade for the NHL is one existing powerhouse gets yonger and possibly stronger and one infant powerhouse gets elevated immediatly to absolute powerhouse. All good business for the NHL and both teams.
