Over at NHLNumbers, I debuted the early version of the 2014 NHL Consensus Draft Rankings. The top 10 shapes up like this:
|1||C||Sam Reinhart||6'1, 186||R||Kootenay|
|2||F||Willie Nylander||5'10, 163||R||Sodertalje|
|3||D||Aaron Ekblad||6'4, 213||R||Barrie|
|4||F||Michael Dal Colle||6'2, 172||L||Oshawa|
|5||F||Blake Clarke||6'1, 190||L||Brampton|
|6||C||Leon Draisaitl||6'0, 199||L||Prince Albert|
|7||F||Nicholas Ritchie||6'3, 218||L||Peterborough|
|8||F||Jakub Vrana||6'0, 183||L||Linkoping|
|9||C||Jared McCann||6'0, 175||L||S.S. Marie|
|10||D||Roland McKeown||6'0, 186||R||Kingston|
This got me thinking. Will the Oilers be interested in this group again? The last time they weren't sifting through the top 10 on draft day was when they drafted Jordan Eberle and he's 23 years old now! [Sidebar: Sam Gagner was taken 6th the year prior - it's be a very long run of awfulness in Edmonton].
Will these players matter to the Oilers next June? Where will they draft next June?
