The current version of the 2013-14 Edmonton Oilers depth chart:
Two new faces on the left side, four in the middle, and one starboard mean 1/4 of the forward depth chart has rolled over. Depth is an issue at all three positions, but is especially a concern at centre, where they have but three NHL-level centres and one of them, Nugent-Hopkins, won't be healthy to start the season. The summer talk involves moving Taylor Hall to the middle, but that leaves little NHL-level talent on the left.
Craig MacTavish acquired five new faces on the left, and two on the right as he overhauled more than half of the defensive corps, with special attention paid to rebuilding the right side, but the organization remains left-heavy on the blueline.
Labarbera replaces Nikolai Khabibulin and Bachman takes over for Yann Danis while Tuohimaa appears on the depth chart for the first time. Dubnyk is a rare thing in Edmonton - a goaltender brought up through the organization, while veterans Labarbera and Bachman bring stability and consistently to the position.
