Top Story: Edmonton is tied for 10th with Nashville and Columbus right now, just behind Dallas and St. Louis. The Blues are a much better team, so catching them is going to be nearly impossible. The Stars have one of the easiest schedules remaining, and the Oilers one of the most difficult, so even overtime losses rather than regulation losses are necessary at this point.
The Oilers are saying:
"If we can get something that will help us without totally destroying the core of young players we’re going to grow and win with for a long time, of course we’ll look at it. But it has to make sense."
--Steve Tambellini, on the trade deadline.
The Opponent is saying:
"In my opinion, they’ve been playing well. They’ve been spending some time in the other team’s end. They were getting some chances and they weren’t getting a lot of rewards for their efforts. Tonight they did."
--Alain Vigneault, on the Sedin-Sedin-Burrows line.
That line is going to find a number of opportunities to score tonight.
Key matchup: Ralph Malph doesn't really care much for these modern coaching techniques, so he's going to be spun back and forth by Alain Vigneault. The key will be the team overcoming the matchups. Expect Vigneault to target whatever line Ryan Jones is on because Jones doesn't really care much for defense.
