Jeff Petry's Bizarre Trip Around The Zone

SoCalOil asked in the Game Recap comments section:

Did anyone catch a zone exit by Petry near the beginning of the game? It was horrendous. As he attempted to exit the zone moving from the right side to the left, he had Gagner breaking up on the right side ready for a pass to take it out the D zone but Petry passed it up (perhaps he wasn’t confident in his passing angle or lost sight in his right eye) and instead skated to the left side angling towards the blueline and was pressured immediately and lost possession of the puck. I wish I could go back and grab some screen shots of it. It was baffling as to why he would have done such a thing.

Chipchura doesn't seem to chasing the puck very hard as Petry glides in to pick it up.

He grabs the puck, skates backwards and opens to Chipchura as he looks to see if there is a play up ice.

He decides to send a backhand pass to Mark Fistric across the middle of the ice.

You can see the puck by Chipchura's stick as he makes contact and deflects the pass into the corner.

The race is on, Fistric initially decided to go for the puck, but recognized the threat with 2 more Coyote forecheckers remains in the middle of the ice.

Chipchura wins the race for the puck and has position on Petry. Meanwhile the 2 other Coyotes and Gagner glide into the zone. Zone exit is finished and Coyote puck possession.

ANALYSIS

I will leave that for SoCalOil as he has requested this.
