A question to all the CnB's out there...
When coming in to the NHL, Eakin's was touted as having a strong training ethic, committed to fitness as a means to compete at the highest levels. I've been unable to see many of the Oil games this year but the ones I have seen appear to show the Oilers constantly getting beaten to the puck and then unable to move the opposition off of it. I've got to wonder - is this merely the lull before the training work shows results, or is it an indication that the training concept is not working as well as it should be? A generic question to be sure, given that you can add in injuries, lack of depth in the bottom 6 resulting in overplaying the top, positioning vs. conditioning etc. but if one is to assume that the Oilers are committed to out-training the other clubs, there should at least be some indication of that on the ice.
From last Friday's 'tweet session' with #askeakins we get the following:
Not yet –RT Are you satisfied with team's fitness level?
So it appears that it has yet to kick in to the level we are to expect but I'd really like to hear what those closer to the non-MSM have to say.
