In Case You Missed It...Steve MacIntyre's On-Ice Rage

That's ex-Oiler, Panther and Penguin goon Steve MacIntyre making a mockery of hockey and professional sports in general. Lou Boudreaux at The Cannon has the story:

Today, I am sorry to say that I witnessed a real life version of that kind of crazed behavior. Steve MacIntyre of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins singlehandedly earned the title "Biggest Piece of Trash to Play The Game In the Past 40 Years". The behemoth degenerate, all 6'5" of him, when he couldn't thug it up with an obviously more intelligent Falcon, decided it was his best possible career move to attack 5'10" goalie Paul Dainton. Dainton's teammates were not amused and predictably, all hell broke loose for several minutes at the MassMutual Center in Springfield.

My first take on that mess was that MacIntyre deserved at least a half of a season, probably more. So color me shocked when MacIntyre's suspension was announced:

The American Hockey League today announced that Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Steve MacIntyre has been suspended for four (4) games as a consequence of his actions in a game at Springfield on Mar. 11.

The AHL had a chance to get rid of a player completely lacking in hockey ability and instead chose to hand out a slap on the wrist. There's nothing like stupidity and an allegiance to a time gone by as the underlying code for a decision-making process.
