Ken Campbell Wants to Make You Angry

"Ken Campbell is the senior writer for The Hockey News and a regular contributor to THN.com with his column."

If I were to read this line at the beginning of an article, I would offer some respect for Mr. Campbell and likely start reading his material. Unfortunately, this line appeared at the end of his most recent article: an ignorant rant through which he attempts to declare Sam Gagner's eight-point game as a mistake. He has taken some heat for his writings before, but this one struck me as extra bitter. I will include a link to his article here.

Did that piss you off? If you'd like to blow off some steam, I wrote up a critique of his analysis on my website, tyutininstaals.blogspot.com. Here's the direct link for my article, as well. I feel that beneath my swearing, heavy sarcasm, and irrelevant inside jokes is a strong rebuttal against Campbell's terrible argument. I appreciate honesty so let me know what you all think; even though we've been writing on this blog for three years, this is the first time I've sought public opinion. Hope you enjoy/hate/read it! Go Oilers!

Huh?

Why are you so pissed about it? He kind of makes a good point. When I saw that goal I wondered if he’d get an assist for it. I think it could have gone either way. The hawks didn’t have possession of the puck, but 1 touched it and the other actually shot the puck to try to clear.

Looking at the comments in his article, I guess people hate this guy for some reason. I’ve never read anything of his, so maybe there is reason to be upset. I would say that the best thing to do is to ignore him and focus on reading quality hockey writing. But that’s just me.

I'm not pissed in the slightest.

He has developed quite a bad reputation over the last little while. I was more so looking to see if Oiler fans were at all bothered by his claim. I agree that sticking to quality writing would be best, but The Hockey News is supposed to be of good quality. For the senior writer to front-page such a silly article is baffling to me. Then again, if it weren’t for writers such as Ken, we’d have little to critique/joke about for our website (we critique bad sports journalism, FireJoeMorgan-style).

For the record, I thought he was bang on. I didn’t think Gagner should have gotten a point on that goal either.

And why shouldn’t it be talked about? It’s relevant hockey news. It was fun to witness, but even if he only scored 7 points it was damn impressive.

In theory, there is little difference between practice and theory, but in practice there is!

Tactical contributor to the Copper & Blue and just as boring on the twitters... @dawgbone98
