Pension Plan Puppets

How to Value Mikhail Grabovski - Pension Plan Puppets
He is only in his 4th season the NHL. He’s a little older than some players in their 4th season, but even so, it still takes time to get used to the best opponents in the world. I personally think Grabovski’s finally found his niche (last year) and will be able to maintain this level of play for a few years, though I don’t know if he’s got much more improving to do.

PPP's Top 25 Under 25 - #6 Nazem Kadri - Pension Plan Puppets
In almost 20 years of following the Toronto Maple Leafs, I cannot remember a Maple Leaf drafted prospect that oozed raw skill like Nazem Kadri does.

A Day of Remembrance - Pension Plan Puppets
Today marks the two year anniversary of Brendan Burke's sudden and tragic death in an automobile accident. Brendan was one of the first individuals in the hockey world to come out as a homosexual. Brendan Burke started something significant that has undoubtedly touched many lives. Brendan Burke made a difference. Today, Maple Leafs Hot Stove (please visit their site today to see their amazing piece on Brendan. I cannot do it justice) and Pension Plan Puppets ask that you try to make a difference as well.

Shawn Horcoff - Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - Ales Hemsky
Taylor Hall - Sam Gagner - Jordan Eberle
Ryan Smyth - Eric Belanger - Ryan Jones
Ben Eager - Anton Lander - Lennart Petrell

Ladislav Smid - Jeff Petry
Ryan Whitney - Corey Potter
Cam Barker - Andy Sutton

Signs of Progress? - Oil Acumen
There are 30 games left on the schedule for the Oilers' 2011-12 season, and plenty of questions to be asked about how things are going. There have been a lot of criticisms, and long stretches of the year have been a struggle. But are things getting better? Below is a look at a few key areas after 52 games.

Say goodbye to Hemsky Oil fans - Jeanshorts And Baggedmilk
From what my source told me "There is absolutely no way he will be an Oiler after the deadline."

G53 Oilers at Leafs - Lowetide
The Steve Tambellini extension should come this week or next, and with it another round of gasps and eye rolls. The truth is none of it matters. Mr. Katz has his building, the current cement pond is full or close to and the GM is making enough progress to retain his job.

Oilers at Maple Leafs – Putting on the Foil
So tonight the Oilers face the Maple Leafs. The Oilers are pretty hot as of late, having earned 9 out of a possible 10 points in their last 5 games. The same can be said of the Leafs, themselves, who are on a streak of their own as they try to make the playoffs for the first time under the new CBA.

Gilbert and Hemmer

(first time commenting over here… hello!)

So any word on why Gilbert isn’t going tonight? I thought his return was scheduled for tonight?

RE: Hemsky. Derek I’ve been rehashing your articles from late Dec. over at ON (comments 69-76) if you have the time you might find the inevitable endurance of the Hemsky-related debates interesting:

Comment 76 is gold. That needs to be restructured into a FanPost here or something, so it can be surfaced a little better.

SNN Sports - A theoretical Oilers blog (i.e. theoretically, I write stuff there). Link now 100% less broken.
Robertson's Rants - Exceedingly occasional, lengthy ramblings on hockey topics, hosted at Puck Podcast. And no, my name's not Doug.

Thanks! That’s high praise. I have no idea how to make that happen so I’ll leave it up to someone else.

by Romulus' Apotheosis on Feb 6, 2012 11:39 AM MST up reply actions

Pretty straightforward: top right portion of the website, right beside the post title, there’s a “New FanPost” link. Copy and paste your post into there, fix the formatting (there’s a WYSIWYG editor, so it shouldn’t be hard to fix up), and edit slightly to reflect the change in audience.

I could do it, but I figure your name deserves to be on the byline.

Thanks for the encouragement. It’s up now. It’s a bit longer and a better stand alone piece.

Why do you bother with the inbred mouthbreathers of Oilersnation? In a world in which “body language” counts as an argument there is no room for rational discourse. There is no convincing those people because they are incapable of reason. The only choices are to ignore them or to destroy them.

It’s funny that you use “mouthbreathers” (Brownlee’s favorite term although I would guess you dislike him too).

I like it over there and it was my intro into the Oiler land on the internets. I’m just broadening out now, but I won’t leave there. ON has smart people, enthusiastic people and frustrating people like everywhere else.

Good to see you over here, you’re one of the more interesting posters at the nation, better than most of the “d!nks”.

Sup, Oil Nation

Leaf fan in Edmonton. Looking forward to a good game tonight; I’ve caught a handful of your games and you’ve been nothing if not exciting to watch (especially lately). Be interesting to see two of the hottest players in the last week (Gagner, Reimer) go up against one another.

I, for one, will be wearing my Kessel third around Edmonton today.

Leaf fan for life! (No, really. They gave me a no-trade clause when I was born.)

$5.75M per season for Hemsky? I have no idea where Jeanshorts And Baggedmilk got that number, but if its true, that;s the reason he will be traded, not because the Oilers don’t want to keep him. I beleive that number is more likely the ask than the folks saying he would get $4M or $4.5M per.

Yeah that’s too much, I’m hoping to hear something a little more concrete though.

Concrete would be nice. Come on Hemsky, clear the air. Tell the media what kind of deal you are looking for! If its reasonable, it’ll put all sorts of pressure on Tambo. If its not, well, the media hate you anyway. What have you go to lose?
