"We have a much better team than the results and standings show, and we know that."

Oh dear Lord…

The Edmonton Oilers, keeping opposition fans happy for the last 6 years

I read this two ways:

1. “Tom Renney is through”.
2. “Sutton is coming back because we should win with this defense”

Yeah, that’s not exactly a vote of confidence for the coach. Without a substantial step up in performance the rest of the way, it’s hard to imagine how Renney comes back if Tambellini is going to make that argument.

if Tambellini is going to make that argument.

That’s sort of disturbing too. Everyone except the Edmonton MSM was begging for help on defense from May through…now.

This is a Tambellini quote; he of the silver tongue, gently lifting our spirits with his lyrical prose and astute delivery. I wish.
The guy can barely put together a complete sentence. He makes George Bush junior look like a gifted orator. He trots out the same old tired lines in every interview. Apparently he is ‘firstly, very happy for Andy and his family’ (because that is apparently the GM’s primary concern). Then he says that this signing makes a definite statement about where the team is headed (god help us). He says we need ‘elite talent’, implying that Sutton is just that. And then he says that the signing helps give us a chance to win as many games as possible for the rest of the year (Sutton, who was healthy scratched twice recently – never mind if it is actually helpful to win as many games as possible for the rest of the season).
So, all in all, I conclude that either Tambellini is an idiot and actually believes this stuff. Or he thinks I’m an idiot and I believe what he says. Or both.
